Teacher Training Curriculum
Week 1: (23 hrs) June 28, 29, & 30, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Introduction (3 hrs) We will be going over what you can expect from the 9 week CHY training along with personal self care suggestions to help you through the training process.
● Saturday: 2 to 6 pm Bodywork (4 hrs) Learn different massage techniques you can do on yourself and others.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Art Project (4 hrs) You will write a personal “Body Story” with guidance from a specific set of questions and then after we will draw, paint or color your story.
Week 2: (23 hrs) July 5, 6, & 7, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Anatomy (3 hrs) Introduction to how the brain communicates with the body along with basic understanding of the different parts, internal organs and systems of the body.
● Saturday: 2 to 6 pm Asana Clinic (4 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Introduction to Pranayama (4 hrs) Beyond the 2 breathing exercises we practice in class we will learn and practice other breathing techniques to further observe and witness the breath.
Week 3: (23 hrs) July 12, 13, & 14, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Anatomy (3 hrs) A deeper look into the feet, legs and hips.
● Saturday: 2 to 6 pm Asana Clinic (4 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Introduction to Chakras (4 hrs) Overview of the 7 energy channels which run along the spine. After we will apply what we learned with a pranayama and meditation practice to deepen your understanding.
Week 4: (23 hrs) July 19, 20, & 21, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Anatomy (3 hrs) A deeper look into the hands, arms and shoulders.
● Saturday: 2 to 6 pm Asana Clinic (4 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Chakra Meditation and Art Project (4 hrs) We will practice the chakra meditation and pranayama practices we learned in week 3 and then follow with drawing, coloring or painting the chakra or chakras which resonated most.
Week 5: (23 hrs) July 26, 27, & 28, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Anatomy (3 hrs) A deeper look at the spine and head.
● Saturday: 2 to 6pm Asana Clinic (4 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Introduction to Hatha Yoga Pradipika and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (4 hrs) We will read and discuss these ancient texts. Along with this short overview we will discuss ways to further study the vast knowledge of these books.
Week 6: (23 hrs) August 2, 3, & 4, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Asana Clinic (3 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Saturday: 2 to 6 pm Asana Clinic and Pranayama (4 hrs) We will continue the Asana Clinic from the previous day and end our session with the pranayama practices we learned in week 2. ● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Partner Yoga and Yoga Nidra (4 hrs) A fun session of partner yoga and adjustment techniques. We will end with a guided deep meditation of yoga nidra “yogic sleep”.
Week 7: (23 hrs) August 9, 10, & 11, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10 pm Asana Clinic (3 hrs) Over the training we will break down each of the 26 poses as well as the 2 breathing techniques. Each pose and both breathing exercises will be explored personally as well as observing fellow trainees for a deeper understanding of how to properly move into, hold and out of the pose or breathing technique.
● Saturday: 2 to 6pm Asana Clinic and Pranayama (4 hrs) We will continue the Asana Clinic from the previous day and end our session with the pranayama practices we learned in week 2. ● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Principles of Instruction (4 hrs) This session will be dedicated to setting the tone and teaching a class.
Week 8: (23 hrs) August 16, 17, & 18, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10pm Asana Clinic and Pranayama (3 hrs) We will finish up the breakdown of poses and end our session with the pranayama practices we have been studying since week 2.
● Saturday: 2 to 6pm Introduction to Adjustments (4 hrs) In this session we will go over different ways to approach correcting and helping students better understand the poses.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Teaching (4 hrs) Each student will get a chance to teach the group a few poses.
Week 9: (23 hrs) August 23, 24, & 25, 2024
● 12 hrs practice (done on your own time) Practice either 60 or 90 min class equivalent to 12 hrs a week and track your time in the log provided.
● Friday: 7 to 10pm (3 hrs) This session will be an opportunity to go over any of the information we were unable to finish in the previous weeks.
● Saturday: 2 to 6pm Teaching (4 hrs) Each student will get a chance to teach the group a few poses.
● Sunday: 1 to 5 pm Satsang (4 hrs) Our last gathering to celebrate our time together.
